Description from the seller
Rare Baccarat Wine Service – "Guilloché" Model – France, circa 1916
In sale a splendid and refined crystal wine service of superior quality, produced by the prestigious Compagnie des Cristalleries de Baccarat.
This set represents the excellence of early 20th-century French craftsmanship, combining material purity and technical mastery in decoration.
Composition of the service:
No. 1 Bottle (Decanter): Classic wide-base shape with a slender neck, complete with its original milled spear-point stopper (a perfect fit as a grinding ouster).
No. 8 Wine Glasses: Elegant proportions with a flared bowl and a baluster stem with a central knop.
Manufacture: Baccarat (France).
Model: The decoration is titled "Gravure Guillochée" (Guilloché Engraving). It is a highly precise mechanical engraving technique that creates geometric wave-like motifs and interlaced chains of extreme fineness.
Year of production: The reference catalog dates to the 1916 edition (as visible in the attached historical documents), a period when Baccarat consolidated its timeless style between Neoclassical and early Deco.
Decorative Motif: The set features a triple incised band: two zigzag borders (wave-like Greek key) that enclose a central band with festoon and linked rings motif (cataloged as a variant of the "1000" series in the Gravures Guillochées catalog).
Condition:
The service is presented in excellent vintage condition. The crystal retains its original transparency and brilliance. No chips or evident cracks are reported (please view the detailed photos for minimal signs of time consistent with age).
This is not just a place setting, but a piece of European design history. Perfect for those who wish to set a table with a touch of French nobility or for the collector of fine glass who seeks a complete and coherent set, authenticated by the historical catalogs of the "Maison de Vente" on Rue de Paradis, Paris.
Bottle height (with stopper): 31 cm
Glass height: 12 cm
Professional shipping with reinforced packaging guaranteed
