Beautiful lithograph of a rose against a background with a vein motif.
Manuel Menan, born in Madrid, lived and worked in Spain and the Netherlands and is often referred to as the poetic graphic artist.
Manuel Menan taught graphic techniques at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and at Loyola University in New Orleans. He exhibited in his short life in museums and galleries in Madrid, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Geneva, Bologna, New Orleans and New York and in the Museo de Vilafamés in Valencia.
His color etchings are full of symbolism and inspired by the great Spanish masters such as Francisco de Zurbarán. (now on view at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam: a wonderful exhibition: Rembrandt and Velázquez, Murillo and Zurbarán).
