Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in the specialty of artistic joinery at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. At this school he first encountered disciplines such as carving, drawing, and modeling, and, more importantly, working in the workshop.
Later he enrolled at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Crafts in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what would later become his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school that he began working with materials that would be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallel to this, Porto continues his personal training and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes, leaning toward the use of bronze and steel as the final material for his works.
After this initial training phase, he decided to set up his workshop on the banks of the Sarela River, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical investigation of the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new ways of communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the usual theme of his works, adding complexity and depth to his entire body of work, with themes touching both the social realm and his personal experiences.
