Description from the seller
DOS PECES is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work is a vibrant scene where the domestic and the imagined coexist in balance. On a round green table, objects are arranged with almost theatrical clarity: a decorated bowl overflowing with citrus, two red fruits resting close together, and, as an unexpected element, a small aquarium where two orange fish swim. Everything seems suspended in a carefully composed, halted moment.
The intense red background envelops the scene with warm, enveloping energy, while the open exterior —that door or window that reveals the deep blue of the sea— introduces a sense of escape and breadth. This contrast between interior and exterior generates a poetic tension: the intimate facing the infinite.
The fish, contained in their vessel, subtly converse with the sea in the background. Both aquatic worlds —one domestic and the other open— reflect symbolically, suggesting ideas of freedom, limit, and contemplation. Nature also appears in the form of leaves crowning the bowl, reinforcing the organic presence within a constructed space. The composition rests on simple geometry and flat colors that, nevertheless, are full of nuances thanks to visible brushwork. Each shape is clearly delineated, contributing a graphic character reminiscent of modern painting, while maintaining a deeply human warmth.
“Two Fish” is a work that invites slow looking, to discover the relationships between its elements and to inhabit that moment where the everyday opens toward the symbolic, where a small aquarium can hold, in silence, the immensity of the sea.
