Medsan, Edo Rider (江戸ライダー) – Hand signed, 40 × 40 cm giclée mounted on a wooden panel, edition limited to 1/1, 2026, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
With this square-format artwork, Medsan offers us a bold mashup where the classic figure of the Japanese warrior meets biker culture and modern technology. This giclée depicts a samurai with a severe, focused face, wearing his traditional armor over a kimono with complex geometric patterns.
The visual punch and humor of the composition lie in the resolutely anachronistic elements surrounding him. The proud warrior rides a detailed "custom" chopper, adorned with flames and an eagle emblem on the tank. In place of the traditional helmet, he wears thick protective goggles and headphones over his ears. To crown this temporal misalignment, he holds a smartphone in one hand, its screen adorned with traditional wave patterns (seigaiha), as he takes a selfie at the handlebars of his bike.
The impact of the composition is masterfully enhanced by a uniform ochre yellow background, which makes the intricate mechanics of the motorcycle and the richness of the armor stand out. The bold line and flat colors strictly adhere to the codes of ukiyo-e, while infusing them with pop-art vitality. The traditional vertical cartouche at the top right, housing the artist's signature in katakana (メドサン), completes the temporal illusion.
A conceptual piece, both aesthetically striking and humorous and thoughtful, ideal for adding a pop, graphic, and deeply offbeat touch to a design-oriented, contemporary interior.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Installed as a true creative production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan focuses on pop art painting, exploring color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive exploration, blending abstract art, art brut, and figurative abstraction. Each artwork is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
