Art Deco lamp in régule dating to 1950–1960.
Description from the seller
Object Title
Elegant Art Deco Lamp "The Bearer of Light" - Régule Sculpture Signed Oriole - Geometric Amber Resin Lampshade - Circa 1930
Detailed Description:
Elegance and Graphism:
Magnificent Art Deco-style light fixture (circa 1930), featuring a régule sculpture with a brown-medal patina of origin. The female figure, portrayed in an elongated, stylized offering pose, is characteristic of the revival of French sculpture in the interwar period. Her fluid lines contrast with the stepped base, emblematic of geometric design in the 1930s.
A Modern Geometric Lampshade:
The lamp is crowned by a starry corolla in amber-colored molded resin panels. This material choice, although different from glass, allows a bold geometric form and a warm, structured diffusion of light, perfectly aligned with the modernist aesthetic. The black junction lines accentuate the geometric pattern, creating a strong visual impact, especially when lit.
Technical Details:
Artist: Signed "Oriole" on the base.
Materials: Régule sculpture, solid base, amber resin lampshade.
Dimensions: Height 35 cm | Lampshade width 16.4 cm.
Weight: 1.419 kg
Condition: Good condition for a piece of this era. The original patina on the sculpture shows slight signs of wear, attesting to its authenticity. The amber resin lampshade is intact. Stable mounting. Electricity checked and functional.
Note to collectors: This model is a valuable testament to the decorative arts of the 1930s, illustrating how artists of the time used new materials (such as régule and resin) to create decorative objects that are accessible and graphic. The starry corolla lampshade is particularly original.
