Bed linen set in mélis (cotton and linen blend – softness and durability) in ivory white with a decoration of polychrome cornflower flowers, entirely hand-embroidered.
1 large panel – on the back, 6.5 cm from the edge, a frieze 1 cm wide – in the Venetian stitch (“jours Venise”); at the center, small garlands of circles in the flat chain stitch, a large monogram 'LR' made in the flat chain stitch – interlaced with branches of polychrome cornflowers hand-embroidered.
On the edges – warp/weft – at the ends small hems machine-stitched, small stitches.
The sheet (drap) measures 3 m long by 2.30 m wide.
2 pillowcases – at the edge a frieze in the Venetian stitch with a width of 4 mm.
In one corner the same monogram as on the sheet.
On the back – closure with small buttons (4) and buttonholes – 70.5 cm x 71.5 cm.
Good condition – stains due to time – not used – old Métis label – produced in the 1950s–1960s.
Filature du Nord – people bought the raw sheets, wove them, and embroidered them to suit their taste.
