Description from the seller
Refined cobalt blue and 24-karat gold porcelain plate – K&A Krautheim, Selb Bavaria – Mid-20th Century
Incredible example of German decorative mastery, this porcelain plate was crafted by the prestigious Krautheim & Adelberg (K&A) manufactory in Selb, Bavaria, the beating heart of high-quality European ceramic production.
Aesthetic and Decoration
Stage Centerpiece: The central medallion is adorned with a lively still life depicting peaches and berries. The painting stands out for soft shading and a realism typical of the Bavarian artistic tradition.
Cobalt Blue and Gold: The rim features a deep, intense cobalt blue that creates a regal contrast with the central white porcelain.
Gold Work: The edge is finished with rich relief 24-karat gold decoration, with a beaded motif along the scalloped profile and a delicate laurel leaf garland framing the center of the plate.
Mark and History
The back bears the official green stamp "K&A Krautheim / Selb Bavaria", accompanied by the serial or decorator number "70" painted in blue by hand. This signature guarantees provenance from one of the period’s most renowned factories for paste quality and glaze luster.
