Soviet-era silver Portasigarette case, model Portasigarette, dating to 1953, of Moscow origin, silver .875, 10.7 × 8.5 × 1.7 cm and 177 g, inner vermeil, decorated with a view of Sochi's Dendrarium Gazebo Mauritano with Cyrillic inscription, in good condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
The object in the image is a vintage Soviet cigarette case, probably made of 925 sterling silver, decorated with a view of the famous Dendrarium in Sochi. The engraving depicts the Mauritanian Gazebo (Mavritanskaya besedka), one of the most iconic structures in the Dendrarium Park in Sochi, in the Russian Caucasus. The Cyrillic text at the bottom reads "СОЧИ — ДЕНДРАРИЙ" (Sochi — Dendrarium), confirming the location. AMЮ3 (AMYu3): is the factory mark. The initials "Ю3" (Yu3) identify the Moscow Jewelry Factory (Moskovskaja Juvelirnaja Zavod). The interior is vermeil silver. The opening button with a ruby cabochon set in a metal bezel is a typical feature of high-end production, from both the Russian Imperial period and the mid-20th-century Soviet period.
Stamps and the silver hallmark on both faces of the cigarette case are clearly visible. The lot will be adequately packaged and shipped with affi liated couriers and with online tracking.
