Description from the seller
Tableau portrait "Sérénité intérieur" - 2026
This portrait, titled by the artist "Inner Serenity", is a work that strikes with its spareness and chromatic strength.
The style is resolutely expressionist with an evident influence of the early 20th-century modern movement.
Influence of Modigliani: the very elongated neck, the stylized profile and the absence of gaze—eyes closed.
Fauvism: the use of pure, unmixed and contrasted colors, red against blue, evokes the chromatic audacity of Matisse or Derain.
The subject is represented in a right profile, turned toward an invisible light source. This position suggests a certain elevation of the soul or a quiet pride.
Everything in the painting is curves — from the bun to the chin, through the arch of the brow and the rounding of the shoulder. These soft lines contrast with the black, sharp and authoritative outline that defines the forms.
The neck disproportionately long stretches the silhouette upward, creating a sense of aristocratic elegance and spiritual detachment.
It is a work that celebrates femininity through a simplified geometry.
Painting by Yves Decaudan - 1954
Acrylic on cotton canvas, wooden frame, unframed, dimensions 80 x 60 cm
Provided with certificate of authenticity.
