Shiva - Bronze - 17th–18th centuries

Golden-bronze colored statue in which Shiva is depicted standing with four arms that hold the two-faced drum, the bowl, the trident, and a sword. On his head he wears a three-tiered crown. It is a bulky, strong figure full of energy that could come from the workshops of Karnataka or Tamil Nadu, more likely the former, given the color of the bronze. The large eyes and the inward-looking expression of his face give it a powerful evocation of divinity.
