Era: Late 19th Century to Early 20th Century (Circa 1880–1920).
Origin: Morocco, likely the historic metalworking centers of Fez or Marrakech.
Cultural Context: This style of vessel, often called a Hammam bucket, was a staple of North African bath culture. It was used to carry water within the steam rooms of a traditional bathhouse.
Artistry & Concept
The design is a masterclass in Islamic Geometric Art.
The Motifs: The body is divided into large diamond-shaped panels, each encasing stylized Palmettes and Fleur-de-lis motifs.
The Borders: The base features an intricate interlocking knot pattern, often associated with protection and infinity in Maghreb craftsmanship.
