In the depth of this blue, a soft light seems to surface — as if it were emerging from the very interior of a glacier. The surface appears rough and etched, like ice shaped by wind, water and time over years. Between dark, heavy blue tones, a bright glow breaks through, delicate yet powerful.

It recalls the moment when sunlight penetrates ancient ice and the cold blue suddenly comes to life. The painting carries something still within it — a calm that can only be found in wide, icy landscapes. At the same time, it speaks of movement, of melting ice, of water that seeks its path.

"Glacier Light" is a play of depth, cold and hope: a fleeting moment in which light itself still finds its way even through the oldest ice.

Christoph Prein is an Austrian artist known for his abstract and contemporary works, mainly created with acrylic paints. Originally from St. Margarethen bei Knittelfeld, Prein’s pieces are often characterized by a minimalist, abstract style and are carefully produced from high-quality materials to ensure vibrant colors and longevity. High-quality and light-fast acrylic paints were used on multiple layers of white-primed gallery canvas.

A varnish was also applied to protect the work.
