Description from the seller
Very rare post-incunabula edition, illustrated, of the Decretales of Pope Gregory IX.
The title page is missing, but it is certainly this edition:
Decretales domini pape Gregorij noni accurata diligentia novissime post alias omnes impressiones quampluribus cum exemplaribus emendate: aptissimisque imaginibus exculte..., Venezia, Eredi e C. di Ottaviano Scoto il Vecchio, 1528 Kal. Maij.
PP.: 600 (numerate solo al recto). INCOMPLETO: the text of the "Decretales" is complete, but the first 4 leaves (including the title page) are missing and the 48 leaves of the Index (probably from the outset).
Copy with leaves in generally good condition, with some stains and damp marks and the first fascicle a bit loose and with gaps along the top white margin. Usual signs of use and time.
Seventeenth-century binding in full parchment with manuscript title on the spine, with some loss to the front board but overall well preserved. White fly-leaves.
