Description from the seller
We present to you an elegant oval-shaped decorative wall plaque, adorned with a romantic high-relief scene. This work belongs to the tradition of the "Scènes Galantes" of eighteenth-century France, evoking the distinctive style of masters such as Fragonard or Watteau.
The central subject depicts a young couple of courtiers moving through a bucolic landscape. The man is shown picking a fruit from a tree to offer to his companion, while the painted background reveals a pastoral scene animated by a shepherd and his flock.
The materials used for this piece are of high quality: the central scene is made in biscuit (matte porcelain) or in polymer resin. The frame, for its part, is in stucco or in gold-leafed polymer, richly adorned with volutes and Rocaille motifs.
The general condition is remarkable. The colors have retained their original freshness and the gilding presents an authentic antique patina, attesting to its age (detailed photographs are available for inspection).
The style of this work is Neo-Rococo, directly inspired by the Louis XV aesthetic.
It was produced between 1950 and 1970.
