Hamelink’s original acrylic painting We Scroll the World (2026), a Neo-Expressionist work in black, beige and white, measuring 129 cm high by 215 cm wide, signed and sold directly by the artist, shipped rolled without a frame with a signed certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
In this striking and layered work by Bart Hamelink, the viewer is taken into a world fully controlled by screens, stimuli, and constant distraction.
“We Scroll the World” shows how we as humans increasingly live via our phones and screens. Figures seem trapped in their own bubble, surrounded by words such as “HELP ME,” “PLEASE GOD GIVE ME,” and “TV.” These words amplify the sense of dependency, emptiness, and the longing for more — without true fulfillment arising.
The composition feels busy and almost overwhelming, as if everything happens at once. Just like in daily life where we endlessly scroll, without pausing to consider what we truly feel or need. The work thus poses a confrontational question: are we alive, or are we merely watching?
The black-and-white execution enhances the rawness and seriousness of the theme. The hand-drawn lines and texts give the work a direct, honest, and unfiltered appearance — as if it comes straight from the artist’s mind and feelings.
As is often the case in Hamelink’s work, the power lies in the combination of simplicity and meaning. With seemingly simple forms, it creates a sharp and current image of the modern human — searching, addicted to stimuli, and slowly alienated from oneself.
Note:
The shown images with frames are mood pictures and serve to illustrate how the work could hang in an interior.
The artwork is delivered framed without a frame and stretcher (rolled) for safe and affordable transport.
The artwork is carefully packaged and shipped, and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity from the artist Bart Hamelink.
