A 1940–1950 Italian Art Nouveau table lamp in bronze with a glass diffuser, in good used condition and in working order, 49 cm high, 20 cm wide, 20 cm deep, weight 2 kg, with a patinated bronze finish.
Description from the seller
Lamp that has always been owned by my family, of Piedmont origin, from the early 1900s or late 1800s.
Vintage table lamp that combines stylistic elements of Art Nouveau and Neoclassicism.
Main features:
* Diffuser (lampshade): The diffuser is made of frosted (or satin) glass, shaped like an open tulip flower. It features refined acid-etched or sanded engravings with stylized floral and vegetal motifs (flowers and leaves). This form and decoration are typical of the Art Nouveau period (late 19th – early 20th century). The lamp is functional, casting a warm and atmospheric light.
* Base and stem: The body of the lamp is metal, probably bronze or a dark patinated metal alloy (such as cast iron or spelter, commonly used for reproductions and decorative objects).
• The base is ornate and decorated with relief floral motifs.
• The central stem supports the glass shade through stylized metal arms that evoke organic forms.
• On the globular part of the base, two decorative relief heads (appliques) are visible: they seem to depict mythological or classical figures (perhaps Medusa heads, cherubs, or female figures), a detail that recalls Neoclassical influences.
