Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window models, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This research on gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a disturbing, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each piece rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close, it reveals a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts like a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject represented. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent way.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops an author’s and musician’s work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-published CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
