Description from the seller
Untitled is a work created in oil and gold leaf on canvas. It will be delivered with a protective varnish and a certificate of authenticity.
Valentina Porcelli is an Italian artist trained in painting with honors at the Academy of Fine Arts of Foggia. She began her artistic career as a child, showing a strong interest in portraiture. Strongly drawn to European traditional painting and photography, she deepens her study of oil technique. Her theatrical experience has contributed to the understanding of body expressiveness and its language, leaving a strong emotional charge to gesture and pose. In 2016, the artist synthesized her knowledge into a style halfway between realism and illustration, achieving metaphysical nuances through monochrome backgrounds. In October of the same year she participated in the Salerno Young People Biennale and won the first prize in painting, and from there the first publication in the important national art magazine Frattura Scomposta Contemporary magazine and other collaborations and exhibition experiences. From the beginning of her career she has used female subjects, initially immersed in a blue monochrome background. Since 2018, the artist has felt the need to move away from the initial background, delimiting the blue within a circle. This circle, together with the protagonists, becomes the focal point of the composition, transforming into a symbol. The paintings offer the viewer a moment of intimacy with the subjects. Most of the women in her paintings look into the observer's eyes, creating an understanding.
Since the end of 2019, her painting has once again evolved through the use of gold and the addition of other elements in the painted composition: birds and plants. The artist currently lives and works in Parma.
