At auction, a precious wooden frame from the 18th century, made of wood and finished in genuine gold leaf.
The frame immediately appears very old, with gilding restored in places and with signs of elapsed time, its original patina that confers historical and artistic value.
The frame has undoubtedly been restored several times over the centuries; the back fixing nails are old, contemporaneous, and authentic to the period.
The frame embodies a full Baroque-Empire style and reflects its classic and very elegant form with floral motifs.
It was most likely displayed in a ecclesiastical setting or in an important historic residence.
