Description from the seller
Romain Malfliet (Sint-Niklaas, Waas 1910 - 2006) was a Belgian painter, watercolorist, and especially an etcher. Education at the Academy in Sint-Niklaas, and at the Academy in Ghent, and the Higher Institute in Antwerp. Pupil of, among others, J. De Bruycker, W. Vaes and Is. Opsomer. Created, among other works, landscapes and cityscapes. He drew inspiration primarily from the Waasland and from Antwerp. He was a member of the Circles Pictura and the Royal Wase Art Circle. In 1979 a tribute book appeared, Romain Malfliet en het Land van Waas, with images of almost three hundred of his etchings and texts by W. Melis and W. Persoon. He is mentioned in Belgian art books.
