Description from the seller
David Law
Artist Photographer – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer, author, and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence, and the perception of image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Private Worlds
In a repetitive facade where every window becomes a world, the light reveals fragments of silent lives. Behind each colored square, simple gestures — almost invisible — tell of intimacy, waiting, and isolation. No gaze crosses; no story intersects. A collection of contemporary solitudes, enclosed in their own luminous frames. This series was conceived from workflows of contemporary visual creation, using graphic tools and current digital composition techniques.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he pursues work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
