You are bidding on an amazing 4/4 violin, labeled Costantinus Celanius emidii frater vulgo il turco ascoli in piceno fecit an. 1947. The instrument is in ready to play condition with two small repaired cracks right and left from tailpiece.
The violin has an excellent straight high to medium grained spruce of the top and one piece back of softly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The original oil varnish of golden amber color with some tears and wears. The whole length of the violin is 590 mm and the back 360 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 172 mm; middle bouts: 117 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm. Full size.
