Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made himself known through a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling presence, almost alive, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Private Worlds
In a repetitive façade where each window becomes a world, light reveals fragments of silent lives. Behind each coloured square, simple gestures — almost invisible — tell of intimacy, waiting and isolation. No gaze crosses, no story intersects. A collection of contemporary solitudes, confined within their own luminous frames. This series was designed from workflows of contemporary visual creation, using graphic tools and current digital composition techniques.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also a photographer and videographer attached to several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops a body of work as author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer and guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
