Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate subjects acquire a troubling, almost alive presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Private Worlds
In a repetitive façade where each window becomes a world, light reveals fragments of silent lives. Behind each colored square, simple gestures — almost invisible — tell of intimacy, waiting and isolation. No gaze intersects, no story meets. A collection of contemporary solitudes, confined within their own luminous frames. This series was conceived from contemporary visual creation workflows, using graphic tools and current digital composition techniques.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musician work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer guitarist he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
