Sculpture by Alessandro Guardini titled SEPIK HEAD, a unique hand‑carved work in Nero Marquinia marble with dimensions 25 × 17 × 27 cm and a weight of 6 kg, signed by hand, in a contemporary style from Italy.
Description from the seller
SCULPTURE uniquely crafted entirely by hand in black marble Marquinia and wood.
SEPIK HEAD stems from Alessandro Guardini's tribal anthropomorphic research, aimed at reinterpreting in contemporary terms the cultural identities of different populations around the world.
The work draws inspiration from the tribes of New Guinea, particularly the peoples of the Sepik River, noted for the practice of ritual scarification. This element becomes the centerpiece of the sculpture: the marble surface is worked with targeted engravings that evoke skin marked by scars, transforming the material into a visual narrative of tradition, identity and belonging.
Essential in form but rich in detail, the head presents itself as a synthesis between art, anthropology and design, capable of dialogue with contemporary exhibition spaces.
Part of a broader collection, already recognized in the modern art scene with selections in collaborations with Cleto Munari and presence in Mondadori's catalog for collectors and gallery owners.
Dimensions:
Height: 25 cm
Width: 17 cm
Depth: 27 cm
Weight: 6 kg
The work will be shipped with appropriate packaging and all necessary precautions for the safe transport of delicate artworks.
