R. Rassaa, Derviche Tourneur, an original hand-signed oil painting from 2024 in good condition, 120 cm high by 40 cm wide, depicting a Sufi dancer in a vertical panoramic composition in an abstract religious style, painted in oil on canvas, from France, sold directly by the artist, Original edition.
Description from the seller
A work by Rached Rassaa, Tunisian fascinated by Turkish culture and especially by the whirling dervishes. This painting is a contemporary, pared-down piece that captures the graceful movement of a whirling dervish. It plays on contrast and the energy of the gesture more than on realistic detail.
The silhouette of a Sufi dancer in full practice of the Sema (the ritual dance) is discernible. He wears the traditional attire: the sikke (the cylindrical hat) and the tennoura (the long robe that flares with the rotation).
The posture is dynamic. The arms are extended, one upward and the other downward, traditionally symbolizing the reception of divine grace and its transmission to Earth.
The painting uses a very elongated vertical format ("vertical panoramic"), which emphasizes the elongation of the figure and the spiritual aspect of ascension.
Technique: oil painting with brushes and a palette knife. The paint is applied in thick layers (impasto), letting the textures appear vigorously in the robe. These visible brushstrokes give a sense of speed and whirlpool.
This is a work that favors the emotion and spirituality of movement. It exudes a sense of peace while being visually very striking.
Possibility of color differences between photos and reality.
The painting will be delivered: canvas on stretcher.
