Description from the seller

A bi-folio from a Qur'an written in N.India/Kashmir C18th. It consists of two neatly scribed pages in black Naskh script. Between he lines of Quranic script sits Persian commentary in red offering the devotee additional context and guidance in prayer. The left folio has an illuminated Surah heading written in white Thuluth on gold with two attractive arabesque book ends. Additional commentary in the margins has been made by a 'teacher' to add context.

The bi-folio contains the v.29-50 of Chapter 77, Al-Mursalat (Those Winds Sent Forth), which focus on the Day of Judgment, detailing the fate of those who denied the truth, their punishment in Hell, and a final warning to those who reject faith. The main themes are, that: the punishments of the hereafter are tangible and real, not merely symbolic; that those who refused to submit to God on earth will be humbled and trapped on the Day of Judgment and where the Quran is presented as the final and clearest warning, and failure to accept it leaves no other path for guidance.

It also contains the header for chapter 78, An-Naba (The Momentous News) and v.1-12, which are the opening argument for the reality of Resurrection and the Day of Judgment by highlighting the power of God manifested in the creation of the universe.
