Natali Wood - Olivo Centenario

Original work from Natali Wood's series Footprints of the Forest.

This print is made from the direct impression of real, centuries-old olive wood, where the tree's history is revealed through its grain, cracks, and marks of time.

Through an artisanal process inspired by the Japanese Yakisugi technique, fire transforms the surface of the wood, making visible its internal structure. Subsequently, the piece is inked and transferred onto Washi Japanese paper.

In this work, the use of two inks creates a symbolic contrast: the deep black represents matter and the tree's memory, while the warm tone of the core evokes life, energy, and the passage of time concentrated in its heart, the oil.

The olive tree, an ancient tree linked to resilience, wisdom, and continuity, is presented here as a unique, unrepeatable imprint rich with meaning.

The wood used is sourced responsibly, without logging, from natural fragments collected in the surroundings.
