Description of the digital emulsion transfer technique
It is a technique that I have developed personally, inspired by the classic transfer of the emulsion from Polaroid instant film, but adapted to the digital workflow. It involves printing an image with pigment inks on a prepared support so that, when submerged in cold water, the ink layer (the emulsion) can separate and be manually transferred to a quality art paper. During the process the image is directly manipulated, generating slight variations, textures and folds that make each copy a unique piece.
Transfers can be made in different sizes—from A4 to A2—and in color as well as black and white. The result combines digital precision with artisanal finish, with an image protected by a coating that covers it, so it resists scratching and offers good durability.
