Pocket watch with 18K gold case, reference 102942, dated 1850–1900, manual bridge movement with lever escapement, guilloché dial with Roman numerals, full hunter case, weight 37 g, case diameter 37 mm, in good condition with signs of wear, in working order.
Description from the seller
This is a classic gold pocket watch from the late 19th century (likely between 1880 and 1900). The watch has a very rich appearance due to the decorated dial and the "full hunter" case (a case with a lid on the front).
The inside of the case is clearly marked with 18K in an oval. This means that the case is made of 18-karat gold. Above the "18K" you see a small stamp (a woman's head, probably "Helvetia"). This is an official Swiss hallmark for 18K gold that was used from 1880.
This is a so-called "bridge movement" (U-shaped bridges). It is a mechanical movement with a lever escapement. The blue screws and the rubies (jewels) indicate a high-quality movement. There is no clear brand name on the movement, which was common with Swiss watches that were exported to jewelers who placed their own name on the dial.
A beautiful "guilloché" gold dial with Roman numerals.
The pocket watch weighs 37 grams in total. Since the inner and outer lids are 18k gold, the net weight is estimated at 14 to 17 grams.
The pocket watch is in working order.
