A very large ghau, 25 cm high, of recent manufacture.
A ghau is a traditional Tibetan portable reliquary.
It is used by Buddhists to carry sacred objects, such as statuettes (tsa-tsa), relics, or manuscripts.
It is made of hammered and chased copper, a technique known as repoussé.
The façade is richly decorated with auspicious motifs and has windows allowing a view of the amulets inside.
The ghau for sale, given its large size, is intended to be placed on a family altar.
