AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

In this piece I develop a double-layer structure where the landscape folds back on itself, generating a tension between interior and exterior. The central square acts as an encapsulated space, almost like a window or a repository of memory where the pictorial matter densifies: a garden built from repetitive, organic gestures that suggest growth, accumulation, and time. The chromatic transition at the top—from blue to pink—introduces an emotional horizon that does not describe a place, but a state. Beyond this core, the background expands into a more open field, worked with glazes and loose strokes that evoke an unstable cartography, as if the surroundings were in constant reconfiguration.

In the foreground, the black silhouettes of the flowers burst in a direct, almost immediate drawing that imposes itself over everything else. These forms function as a bridge between both spaces: they do not wholly belong to the contained garden nor to the outer field, but inhabit that boundary. Here I return to emphasizing the conceptual axis of my work: the “house” as a structure that tries to contain, organize and delimit, against the “garden” as a living, expansive, and changing force. In this work, both concepts overlap and tense, generating a visual threshold where the intimate and the open coexist in an unstable balance.

About R.Robin

Robinson Rodríguez García is a visual artist, theater designer, and drawing professor, born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, and residing in Spain. He graduated in 2003 from the Provincial Academy of Fine Arts and develops an artistic practice centered on painting and contemporary language, where abstraction, geometry, and a strong symbolic charge converge. Between 2003 and 2005 he taught drawing workshops at the Manuel Ascunce Domenech School of Art Instructors, and between 2006 and 2009 he worked as a costume and set designer for the Provincial Council of Performing Arts of Santa Clara, an experience that decisively influenced his spatial and formal conception within the visual arts.

His work has been presented in various solo exhibitions in Cuba, notably at the Provincial Art Gallery and in institutional spaces in Santa Clara. He has also participated in major group exhibitions and international fairs, including Art Basel Miami, group exhibitions in France, and contemporary art events in the Americas and Europe. In 2017 he participated in art fairs in Mexico. His career is complemented by studies and international workshops related to scenic design and visual creation, consolidating a multidisciplinary artistic profile that dialogues between painting, space, and contemporary symbolic experience.
