ANTIQUE CHURCH CRUET SET WITH TRAY – SILVERED / GILT METAL – 19th / EARLY 20th c.

An elegant antique ecclesiastical cruet set consisting of two matching vessels (for wine and water) and a decorative tray, used during the Holy Mass.

The set is made of metal (likely brass or copper) with silvered and partially gilt surfaces.

Cruets:
• bulbous bodies with rich repoussé decoration,
• floral and Eucharistic motifs (grapes and vine leaves),
• hinged lids with sculptural finials (grapes / shell motif),
• ornate handles in Rococo style,
• well-balanced footed bases.

Tray:
• oval form with raised decorative border,
• richly engraved and repoussé ornamentation,
• matching grapevine motifs symbolizing the Eucharist,
• central recesses for stable placement of the cruets.



Condition:
• good overall condition for its age,
• visible patina and surface wear,
• minor rubbing to silvering and gilding,
• no major structural damage.
