Description from the seller
Large Apulian artisanal terracotta earthenware vessel with handles – extra-large vase.
Impressive terracotta vessel of Apulian (Puglia) production, Italy, handcrafted on a potter's wheel and characterized by a slender, elegant shape with two sturdy upper handles harmoniously integrated into the body. The line recalls Italian rural tradition, with balanced proportions and a dramatic presence.
The surface features a natural light patina, with delicate ivory, sand, and dusty gray undertones, enriched by light reddish traces typical of fired terracotta. The signs of time, micro-porosity, and evident turning marks tell of authentic, traditional craftsmanship, giving the piece a lived, tactile charm, ideal for rustic, Provençal, country-chic, or contemporary settings with contrast.
The profile is broad at the shoulder and tapers down to a solid, stable base. The handles, thick and well-shaped, provide visual balance and character. Light imperfections and small nicks on the base, visible in the photos, do not compromise the structure but testify to originality and use over time.
Indicative dimensions: height about 40/45 cm, maximum diameter about 30 cm, base diameter about 15-16 cm. Weight 6.5 kg, thus very sturdy and stable. Perfect as a large decorative indoor/outdoor covered vase, a substantial umbrella stand, or a furniture piece capable of enhancing entryways, living rooms, taverns, or commercial spaces.
A strong, personality-rich Apulian piece, large and scenographic, capable of transforming any environment with the authentic warmth of traditional terracotta.
