Description from the seller
ROAD RACING BIKE CHAMPION “PREMIUM COLLECTION” (1967) – ABOUT 10.5 KG
A rare piece of European cycling heritage
We have the honor to auction this magnificent Champion road bike, the 1967 “premium collection” model. A true testament to the golden age of artisanal cycling, this bike is a collectible piece of rare elegance, aimed at vintage mechanical enthusiasts and collectors of prestige bicycles.
History and legacy
The Champion brand, often associated with the excellence of handmade frames of the era, stands out here with exquisitely fine steel tubing work. This 1967 model embodies the technological transition of the mid-1960s, combining the robustness of large-diameter frames with a top-tier selection of European components. Wearing its original green livery with “Italian-style” detailing, this bike exudes an authentic patina and aristocratic presence.
Prestigious technical specifications
This bike has been carefully preserved, tested, and refurbished with respect for its authenticity. It features a high-end Franco-Italian mixed configuration:
frame: high-quality steel, 65 cm center-to-top, ideal for tall riders (recommended from 194 cm).
drivetrain: Campagnolo Gran Sport group (2x5 speeds), an icon of reliability and precision of the era.
braking: Mafac Dural Forge calipers, the standard of excellence for powerful and progressive braking in the 1960s.
crankset and chainrings: prestigious Stronglight / Simplex alliance, offering sculptural aesthetics and great lightness.
saddle: Brooks Champion B17 leather saddle, already bedded in, offering legendary comfort and undeniable visual character.
cockpit: Ambrosio Brevettato Adjustable stem, a rare engineering piece allowing precise position adjustment.
wheels: A.V.A rims mounted on Normandy hubs, guaranteeing optimal rolling smoothness.
Condition
The bike is in “good” condition, having undergone a full overhaul. The paint shows natural patina that certifies its origin and history, without compromising the structural integrity of the steel. Consumables have been checked to ensure the bike is ready to ride or to be displayed immediately.
Extras included: period bottle cage and dirt scraper (tire lever), accessories typical of grand tours and races of the era.
Delivery information
Shipping costs are set at an estimate of €300. Please note that this is a high estimate to ensure professional and secure packaging. If the actual shipping cost (including insurance and packing materials) turns out to be less than the amount paid, we commit to refund the difference to the customer after the sale.
Don’t miss this opportunity to acquire a 1967 cycling icon, a machine that marries historical performance with timeless design.
