AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Series “The World is Masqueraded” Oil on canvas – cm 80×80 – 2023
Award-winning work “Cash Prize” at Malamegi art Rome 2023
Exhibited at Fine Art Gallery, piazza della Pietra – Rome – from 14/10 to 28/10/2023

CONCEPT OF THE WORK:

1,2,3, masked force, it’s your turn!
4, 5, 6 there seated she has put herself!
7,8,9, this is the game of the tests

This painting aims to be a reinterpretation of the sad reality… people mask themselves with lies to avoid telling uncomfortable truths, they play at hiding behind someone else and always seek scapegoats. Hence the masks placed on the characters, hare masks that run quickly, or rabbits that run away from reality. Defenseless hares placed next to the mouths of hungry wolves symbolize scapegoats to be fed to the wolves.

We see that masked little girl, seated on an armchair under the porch of an old house, symbolizing the smallness and immaturity of political figures who are put in power to lead all of us; they are masked, you never know who commits the misdeeds, you never know whose fault the degeneration of society is!

ARTIST NEWS
Laura Muolo, born in 1975, Milanese by birth and Rimini by adoption. She approached art as a self-taught artist since 2013. Her starting medium is graphite, with which she immediately seeks the realism of faces, later turning to other media such as pastel and painting.
She participates in many group exhibitions across Italy and internationally, and exhibits her works also in important Italian museums. Her works are part of several private collections around the world. Four solo exhibitions so far. She has collaborated on the creation of a book cover for a poetry book in 2015 and for a philosophy book cover in 2023.
Winner and finalist in several artistic competitions, nationally and internationally.
Laura describes her work like this: “I prefer oil painting for its reflective nature: it allows me to build the image step by step, changing, smoothing, perfecting. Sometimes I use pastel on cardboard to immediately capture the essence of the subject, in a direct and instinctive way. My style is realistic, but my painting tells inner worlds, hidden emotions and stories to decipher. My works move between dreamlike landscapes and figures immersed in their thoughts, accompanied by shadows that reveal what is not seen: desires, fears, memories. Each scene is born from photographs of young subjects and takes shape through symbols, objects and animals that give voice to a memory or a deep feeling. Painting, for me, is a journey into the dimension of the unsaid.”
