About the artist
Born in Havana in 1972, Alonso is a Cuban-Spanish visual artist whose work links cinema, photography and contemporary image. Trained in Madrid, he began in cinema as an assistant director and cameraperson, collaborating notably with Bertrand Fèvre, Pedro Almodóvar and José Luis García Sánchez. This crossing of cinema leaves a lasting mark on his relation to the frame, to silence and to rhythm. Based in Arles, he now develops a visual body of work present in private collections in Europe, Asia and the United States.
