Description from the seller

Introduction José Soler:

Explanation of the work:

Steel is one of the hardest and most resistant materials we have, and as a master of steel I am used to feeling its hardness and strength. Seeing that strength represented in the essence of metal sculptures, but with this new collection I want to do the opposite: something even more complicated, which is to endow it with sensitivity and to fool the viewer by presenting a sculpture made from hard and resistant steel that looks like silk, that appears to be a delicate, elegant, simple yet powerful piece visually.

They are pieces of stainless steel finished with reliefs and with meticulous attention paid to every detail. With them I seek a more relaxed elegance and the desire to create a trick in the viewer’s mind, like a trompe l’oeil painting.

They are forged pieces with utmost care, in an idyllic setting, fully connected with steel and art. They are born with the sound of each fold, of strength and delicacy, from which flow the notes of their movements that appear wrinkled and open.

I am drawn to artisanal and groundbreaking designs, therefore, with these vertical, wall-mounted sculptures, I focus on becoming part of a new reality where I seek color, texture, and sinuous shapes. Who would say this is steel? These sculptures, with a magically wrinkled look, make me revere this primitive material, for it makes everything possible, with no limits to creation or to creativity. Even steel can look as light as silk.

The piece plays with a mirror effect that makes light bounce and creates spectacular light and shadow plays, forging a sculpture at the forefront of contemporary art.

It hangs easily like a painting.

José Soler is a sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally as well as in Monaco, Italy and France. Through each of his pieces, he strives to bring to light the melody that lives inside each of us. Soler cites the transformation of cold steel into sculpture as his way of connecting with what is invisible to our eyes and what can only be perceived with universal feelings.
