Decorative malachite chess set, 1950–1970

Elegant decorative chess set composed of a circular board in natural malachite, with deep green veining, and matching pieces in green malachite and light stone. Dating from the mid-20th century, this ensemble belongs to the tradition of East European-inspired decorative objects, highly valued for their material quality and refined aesthetics.

The board, with a diameter of about 45 cm, is in excellent condition. The pieces, with a simple and stylized design, measure up to 8 cm for the king.

One of the two malachite bishops of the king is not original and has a chip; see the last photo.

Élégant jeu d’échecs décoratif composé d’un plateau circulaire en malachite naturelle, aux veines vertes profondes, et de pièces assorties en malachite verte et pierre claire. Datant du milieu du XXᵉ siècle, cet ensemble s’inscrit dans la tradition des objets décoratifs d’inspiration est-européenne, très appréciés pour leur qualité de matière et leur esthétique raffinée.

Le plateau, d’un diamètre d’environ 45 cm, est en excellent état. Les pièces, au design sobre et stylisé, mesurent jusqu’à 8 cm pour le roi.
