Description from the seller
Lot of 8 Flûte Glasses "Lightly Blown" – Nason Moretti Manufacture, Murano
Overview of the Work
We present a refined set of eight flute-style glassware pieces in Murano glass, an example of excellence in Venetian production in the 20th century. The line, characterized by a slender silhouette and extreme lightness of material, can be traced back to the historic Nason Moretti furnace, famous for revolutionizing the concept of “feather glass” in the postwar period.
Technical Features and Manufacture
Production Period: Approximately 1950–1970. This design reflects the modernist taste of mid‑century, where the purity of crystal meets Venetian Baroque decoration in a minimalist key.
Blowing Technique: The drinking vessel displays a millimetric thickness, obtained through freehand mouth-blowing. The trumpet-shaped form precision testifies to the high level of craftsmanship of the glass masters of the era.
The Stem: A distinctive element of the set is the button-shaped stem with a hot-worked “morfisa” technique. The central node, decorated with a spiral (tortiglione), encloses inside a precious 24kt gold leaf, expertly applied to create a suspended light effect.
Trumpet Base: The base is of the hollow or trumpet type, a configuration that requires perfect weight distribution to ensure stability despite the thin thicknesses.
The set is presented in excellent vintage condition. There are no glass fibers, nicks, or opacifications (sick glass). The brilliance of the gold is perfectly preserved inside the glass node.
TECHNICAL NOTICE FOR THE COLLECTOR
Mandatory Maintenance Protocol:
Please note that, given the ultra-thin nature of the crystal and the peculiar decoration in gold leaf applied with traditional technique, these items are not compatible with mechanical washing in a dishwasher.
The chemical action of modern detergents and high temperatures can compromise the molecular stability of the thin glass and alter the luster of the gold leaf.
Washing: Strictly by hand, using lukewarm water and neutral soap.
Drying: It is recommended to use a linen or soft microfiber cloth to avoid mechanical shocks to the stem or the possibility of removing the gold gilding!!!!
Height 21.5 cm; mouth diameter 6.8 cm; base 6.3 cm.
