Marble chessboard in green and white from Italy, dating to 1970–1980, with a complete set of 32 wooden pieces, board 40 x 40 cm and 2 cm thick, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Green and white marble chessboard with a complete set of 32 wooden pieces – 1970s/1980s
Elegant chessboard in natural marble, made with a refined pairing of veined green marble and white marble, creating a visual contrast of great impact and strong stage presence. The base, generously sized (approximately 40 x 40 cm, 2 cm thick), is solid, heavy, and perfectly finished, with beveled edges and careful workmanship that yield an object of superior quality.
The pieces, complete and perfectly matched (32 pieces), are made of turned wood, with a warm and natural finish that harmonizes perfectly with the marble's cool, elegant allure. The king and queen, about 7/8 cm tall, are proportioned to the board and confer a strong and well-balanced presence to the whole. At the base there is the classic felt lining, a sign of careful production and also aimed at protecting the surface.
The set fully recalls the taste of the 1970s/1980s, a period when marble was used for important furnishing objects, designed not only for use but also as a distinctive decorative element.
Esthetically, this is an object that goes beyond mere playful function: a true furniture accessory. Perfect on a living room coffee table, an important desk, or an entry console, it immediately becomes the focal point of the room. Ideal in classical contexts, where it dialogues with dark woods and traditional furnishings, but surprisingly effective even in modern and minimalist environments, where the contrast between natural marble and clean lines creates a sophisticated and contemporary effect.
Also excellent as a high-end gift idea, for chess enthusiasts or for anyone wishing to add an elegant and timeless decorative object to their spaces.
Conditions are very good, with normal and slight signs of wear consistent with age, which do not compromise the aesthetics nor the functionality of the set.
The photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to professionals in the sector.
