Description from the seller
Flag of Antigua and Barbuda from the 1970s.
A distinctive and colorful flag of the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, with a unique and symbolic design. The flag was designed by Sir Reginald Samuel and adopted in 1967, when the country gained self-government.
The design is full of meaning: the yellow rising sun stands for a new future and the warm climate, black symbolizes the African heritage of the people, blue refers to the Caribbean Sea and hope, white stands for the beaches and red for energy and vitality. The striking V-shape in the center symbolizes victory.
This flag is made of fabric and is handmade. The sun is appliquéd rather than printed, and the seams and finish are visible, giving the whole an authentic appearance. This type of flag is less commonly seen than the standard printed variants.
Size: 175 x 113 cm
