Description from the seller
My name is Alberta Spada and I paint to give visible form to what often remains silent: bonds, expectations, and the deep relationship we have with nature. I don't seek perfection of line, but the strength of the material. In my work I like to dig into surfaces, create textures that you can almost touch, because I believe every emotion has its roughness and its depth. This material-based work captures the essence of exploration and nostalgia, reinterpreting a transgenerational icon: the classic LEGO Space astronaut in a blue suit. Made with a mixed-media technique that enhances the surface’s tactility, the canvas presents a dense layering of colors and textures that convey a sense of history and lived experience. In this acrylic painting I wanted to mix a great classic of surrealism with the world of LEGO. I liked the idea of transforming such a serious and mysterious work into something more pop and playful, as if the history of art could be dismantled and reassembled at will. In the background there are more abstract and geometric forms, while in the center is him: our plastic “man” who tries to act serious with a bowler hat and a briefcase. A small homage to Magritte, but with an extra touch of color and irony.
