Medsan Kyoto Ride (京都ライド), a 40×40 cm giclée mounted on a wooden frame, in a limited edition (edition 1, 2026), handsigned and numbered, depicting a Pop Art mashup inspired by Ukiyo‑e culture, in excellent condition with a certificate of authenticity, sold directly by the artist.
Description from the seller
High-quality Giclée mounted on a wooden frame - Hand-signed and numbered - 2026
Signed work by Medsan, artist member of Atelier Joconde, renowned for bold stylistic fusions and striking anachronisms.
In this vibrant creation titled "Kyoto Ride", Medsan signs an explosive visual mashup that confronts the classic aesthetics of Japanese prints (Ukiyo-e) with contemporary urban culture. The work is a Giclée print with bright colors, accurately reproducing the traditional inked line while injecting a decidedly Pop Art energy.
The composition features a traditional female figure, dressed as a geisha or oiran with her complex hairpins (kanzashi) and a sumptuous kimono adorned with cranes and floral motifs. The temporal gap is immediate: this past icon rides a modern black BMX (customized with the inscriptions "MEDSAN" and "FUJI BIKES"), wears a large wireless headset (JBL), and exudes a thick cloud of vapor from an electronic cigarette.
All against a saturated mustard-yellow background, a minimalist approach that enhances the graphic impact of the scene and places it in a distinctly Pop current. The artist's signature "Medsan" is integrated vertically in Japanese characters (katakana) in the upper right corner (メドサン).
An unusual, humorous, and aesthetically flawless work, perfect for a collector passionate about urban art, pop-culture subversions, and nods to modern and ancient Japan.

About Atelier Joconde:
Atelier Joconde is a workshop of artists gathered around a vibrant, plural contemporary creation. Established as a true art production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward Pop Art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, Outsider Art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
Keywords: Geisha, BMX, Vaping, E-cigarette, Headphones, Japan, Ukiyo-e, Pop Art, Mashup, Anachronism, Urban Art, Yellow, Kimono, Medsan, Atelier Joconde, Giclée, Limited Edition, Contemporary Art, Square Format.
