Becker is a former German tennis player who won six Grand Slam tournaments.
On July 7, 1985 he became the first non-seeded player, the first German, and the youngest (17 years and 7 months) to win Wimbledon.
Becker won 49 singles titles and 15 doubles titles. In singles, the player won six Grand Slam titles: Wimbledon in 1985, 1986 and 1989, the Australian Open in 1991 and 1996, and the US Open in 1989. In Grand Slams he reached 10 finals and 18 semifinals, three of them at Roland Garros.
He captured 13 titles of the Grand Prix Championship Series / ATP Masters Series, all on hard court, in addition to 21 finals. He also won three titles at the Masters Grand Prix / ATP Tour World Championships in 1988, 1992 and 1995.
Moreover, he won the Davis Cup in 1988 and 1989 with the German team. He also won the gold medal in men’s doubles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games alongside Michael Stich. He was ranked No. 1 in the ATP rankings for 12 weeks in 1991. Career earnings total $25 million.
After his retirement, Becker was a tennis commentator for the British BBC network from 2002 to 2013. From the 2014 season through 2016 he was the coach of tennis player Novak Djokovic.
