Description from the seller
High-quality Giclée mounted on a wooden frame - Hand-signed and numbered - 2026
Signed Medsan work, by an artist member of Atelier Joconde, recognized for bold stylistic fusions and subversions of cultural icons.
Medsan explores a new dimension of his art by integrating a deconstruction aesthetic, following the explosive energy of contemporary urban Pop artists like Matt Gondek. The work, produced as a high-quality Giclée print, confronts the still-graceful allure of Japanese prints with a visceral visual violence.
The composition features the classic portrait of a richly adorned Japanese female figure wearing her kanzashi (hairpins). Yet the illusion of aesthetic perfection literally shatters. Her face and neck fragment violently like a porcelain mask, revealing with anatomical crudity a skull and muscular fibers. The impact of this de-structuring throws shards of faces, broken geta (wooden sandals), and fragments of jewelry around her. All of this starkly contrasts with a plain, saturated duck-egg blue background, typical of Pop Art flat fields, which balances the chaos of the scene.
The artist’s signature, "Medsan," is calligraphed in Japanese characters (katakana) in a traditional red vertical cartouche located at the top right (メドサン).
A transgressive, bold, and graphically impeccable work, ideal for a collector fond of subversive Pop Art, stylized anatomy, and reimagined Japanese culture.

About Atelier Joconde:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Set up as a genuine space for artistic production, the studio functions both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, focused on Pop Art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive pursuit, blending abstract art, brut art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
Keywords: Pop Art, Deconstruction, Anatomy, Skull, Geisha, Oiran, Explosion, Matt Gondek, Japan, Ukiyo-e, Subversive, Medsan, Atelier Joconde, Giclée, Limited Edition, Contemporary Art, Square Format.
