Description from the seller
High-quality Giclée mounted on a wooden stretcher - Hand-signed and numbered - 2026
Signed Medsan artwork, an artist member of Atelier Joconde, renowned for bold stylistic fusions and subversions of cultural icons.
In this explosive creation titled "Deconstructed Kabuki," Medsan continues his visceral exploration of deconstruction, extending this urban Pop aesthetic inspired by the visual brutality of artists like Matt Gondek. The piece, offered as a high-quality Giclée print, tackles the dramatic theatrics of classic Japan to literally blow them apart.
The composition features a Kabuki actor in full mie (intense dramatic pose), immediately identifiable by the face makeup kumadori in vivid red. Yet the intensity of his expression morphs into an organic explosion: the skin and costume tear and fragment, exposing with crude anatomical precision the screaming skull and the skinless musculature of the character. From his desiccated jaw escapes a powerful stylized breath, sweeping shards of wood and flesh across the canvas. The addition of the Japanese onomatopoeia (アァァ - "Aaa") in the background reinforces the comic-book aesthetic and the kinetic energy of the scene, all magnified by a vibrant, saturated violet background.
The artist’s signature "Medsan" is scripted in Japanese characters (katakana) in a traditional vertical cartouche located in the upper right corner (メドサン).
A ferocious, dynamic, and graphically impactful work, ideal for a collector passionate about subversive urban art, peeled aesthetics, and reimagined Nipponese culture.

About Atelier Joconde:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists brought together around living contemporary creation. Established as a true production space for art, the studio functions both in collaborative creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive path, blending abstract art, raw art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
