Adrien Camille Thévenot, known in painting as Adrien Thévenot, was born on the evening of January 31, 1898 at his parents' home in the large town of Rougemont-le-Château, in the Territoire de Belfort, in Burgundy. Adrien is the eldest son of Camille Eugène Emile Thévenot, (a retiree at his birth, born in Rougemont in January 1876 and son of the locksmith Emile Thévenot (1847)), and of Marie-Eugénie Ripps (a dressmaker born in 1876 in Ribeauvillé in Alsace and daughter of Rougemont’s innkeeper, Charles Ripps), both married in August 1897 in Rougemont.
