MEDSAN's Melting Shogun (溶ける将軍) – Hand Signed, a 40×40 cm giclée print, hand-signed and numbered 1 in a limited edition, dated 2026.
Description from the seller
High-quality giclée mounted on a wooden stretcher - Hand-signed and numbered - 2026
Signed work by Medsan, an artist member of Atelier Joconde, known for bold stylistic fusions and subversions of cultural icons.
In this striking creation titled "The Melting Shogun," Medsan continues his exploration of the drippy and “melty” aesthetics, paying direct homage to the urban Pop energy of artists like Buff Monster. The work, produced as a high-quality square-format giclée, juxtaposes the martial power of feudal Japan with a psychedelic and playful vision.
The composition features the imposing figure of a shogun, his face and body literally liquefying into multicolored drips and pools (hot pink, bright yellow, lime green), mimicking the melting of ice creams or candies. The subversion continues on his accessories: his two sabers (daishō) are replaced by two enormous melting ice cream cones that he holds firmly. Stylized melting skulls in the lower right corner reinforce the comic-book and subversive aesthetic of the scene, all propelled by a solid pink candy-pink background.
The artist’s signature "Medsan" is calligraphed in Japanese characters (katakana) in a traditional vertical cartouche located in the upper right corner (メドサン).
A fierce, complex, and visually striking work, ideal for a collector of subversive urban art, psychedelic aesthetics, and deconstructed Nipponese culture.

About Atelier Joconde:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists gathered around living and plural contemporary creation. Set up as a true hub of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work influenced by cinema and realism. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo is engaged in a more instinctive pursuit, mixing abstract art, art brut, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and overseen within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
Keywords: Pop Art, Kitsch, Melty, Fondant, Drips, Buff Monster, Shogun, Ice Cream, Sabres, Japan, Ukiyo-e, Pink, Subversive, Medsan, Atelier Joconde, Giclée, Limited Edition, Contemporary Art, Square Format.
